You may have noticed that the autumn is definitely our favorite season and the pictures will show you why. This weekend was a big one for the Ferioli family.
We spent the night at Mom and Dad’s and the next day we head to a New England icon: Edaville USA (formerly Edaville Railroad). Did you know that the majority of cranberries that Ocean Spray uses comes right from southern Massachusetts? Well they do and this weekend was Cranberry Festival. There’s an old railroad on the grounds which I suppose used to be used to haul cranberries but now serves as an excellent attraction for kids of all ages. As you will see, Zachary loved it. We’ve never seen him so engaged in an activity.
All up it’s been a great family weekend. The fall foliage is in full swing now so look for some more photos of that to come soon!
What do you do with a field of corn which has already been picked clean? Well carve a maze in it and charge $5 for people to get lost! And what a lovely day it was.
Happy Birthday, Uncle Steven! Auntie Raquel, Zachary misses you!
By far the best season in New England is autumn. It means brilliantly colored leaves, apples and, of course, pumpkins.
We took Zachary to farm up in Amesbury, MA with uncle Gene, Aunt Jodie and his cousins, Chris and Jake. It was kind of a HOT day for autumn so we didn’t stay too long. But for a first outing it was a nice day and we’ll be doing it again very soon.
We want to thank uncle Gene and aunt Jodie for doing such a GREAT job looking after Zachary while we were at Eric and Manda’s wedding up in Portland, Maine this Saturday. Emma really enjoyed the time off. Thanks!
Wow what a party!! First of all, we could not have asked for better weather. It was 80 degrees, dry, and there was not a cloud in the sky the entire day.
We had a great turn out too, 23 adults plus various small people! Zachary absolutely loved every second of it including the two (yes two!) birthday cakes his very creative mummy made for him. And then, of course, there was the gifts! Twenty-four hours later I am happy to say that I finished assembling everything. I love being a Dad.
To all of you who could not make it, you were missed. Notably Grandad Paul and Uncle Nick, Aunt Wendy and Jackie, Hubert and Kate, and Guillermo - Zachary LOVED your gifts as you will see in the photos above.
Thanks to my lovely wife for a well executed but chilled out and fun party and to all of our family and friends.
As Emma and I were going to bed last night Emma said something wonderful to me. She said “this has been the best year of my life.” While the “big party” isn’t until Sunday, our son officially turned one on Friday and it would have been wrong to let that go uncelebrated.
Out good friends, Tracy, Peter and their son Oscar were kind enough to come celebrate with us. We started out at Jake’s Seafood at Nantasket beach, just about 10 minutes from home. We had received a gift certificate for this place from our very kind real estate agent, Elena. Thanks, Elena!! We gorged ourselves on fried things from the sea and the we went across the street to a ride on the Paragon Carousel, Zachary’s first amusement park ride. Then we let the boys crawl around in the sand at the beach before heading home for some much needed rest.
Zachary had a fantastic time as you will see in these photos. Happy Birthday, kid. You know what? It’s been the best year of my life too.

I’ll never forget the day that I first met Elvis. I was picking up Emma for a date. She opened the door to her flat and I said hello before looking down and saying “oh! you have a cat!”. Apparently I swept by Emma and went to chase down Elvis. He didn’t put up much of a fight sensing we were going to be fast friends. And so began a five year friendship that I shall never forget as long as I live.
Since moving to the ‘burbs, Elvis had had an unyielding desire to go outside and chase the myriad of wild animals including a large family of wild turkeys. We’re not sure how he managed it but he got out the other night. He’d done it before and come home fine the next morning. But, alas, this time he did not make it. We may never know how he went but we found him in his normal sleeping position so we hope he went peacefully.
The house feels empty without him. He made the long journey from Belgium to Australia with us and endured a month’s quarantine there. Again he made the long journey from Australia to Boston and was no worse for the wear. He was an amazing pet and friend. Zachary and he were just starting to form a relationship and we are sad that never had a chance to flourish.
So long, buddy, we miss you.
This weekend was T Lee’s 29th birthday (cough) and she celebrated in style at the beach house in Hull. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Thanks for having us over T Lee and Beri, you are amazing hosts!
One of the great things about living away from “home” for so long is that when you come back you get to rediscover it all over again. In some cases you get to discover things you never even knew existed. In this case we loaded up the family and checked out the series of beautiful beaches that line the South Shore from Cohasett all the way down to Duxbury. We were rewarded at the end of our journey with a massive pile of freshly cooked steamers and lobster at Nana and Nono’s house.
If Zachary looks a little grumpy it’s because he was just getting over several days of very high fever. But he’s ok now. It seems like he’s developed even while ill. He’s had his “Descarte moment” and can now say “I”.
If you’re wondering why Emma’s not in any pictures these days it’s because she physically attacks me when I try to take a shot. She’s 20 weeks pregnant now and I wish you could see how beautiful she is.
